Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about getting help, volunteering, giving, and Freedom House. Can't find what you need? Contact us directly.
Do I need to sign up or bring anything to get a meal?
No. Anyone can come to any of our three locations during serving hours — no registration, no ID, and no conditions.
Is faith a requirement to receive help?
No. A short Biblical message is shared before most meals, but it's never a condition of being served. Everyone is welcome, no matter what you believe.
How do I get connected to Freedom House?
Reach out through our Get Help page or Contact page and our team will walk you through next steps. Freedom House is a 12-month residential recovery program, and it starts with a conversation.
What are your meal service days and times?
Palo Alto: Mondays, 6:45–8:00 PM. Redwood City: Monday, Wednesday & Friday, 6:45–8:00 PM. Menlo Park: Tuesday & Thursday, 6:45–8:00 PM. See our Get Help page for exact addresses.
How can I volunteer?
We'd love to have you. Visit our Volunteer page to see what's involved and submit an application — most volunteers start by joining a meal service night.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. Street Life Ministries is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
What areas do you serve?
We serve the Mid-Peninsula — San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties — with meal service in Palo Alto, Redwood City, and Menlo Park.
